Research Program 6
Project 6 Production of Advanced Materials With Increased Efficiency by Utilization of Lignocellulosic Raw Materials and Wastes
Institution: Marmara University -UNSİMER
Project 6.1 Summary: This project consists of 32x32 images (from a total of 1024 pixels) where fluorescence CDs obtained by using lignocellulosic biomass and lignocellulosic compounds obtained from it are used as the emission layer, and a luminance of 10-100 cd/m2 can be achieved on a 2 inch x 2 inch flexible and transparent substrate that emits monochromatic light. It is aimed to produce a passive matrix OLED screen prototype.
The aims and objectives of this project are unique, and the work packages to be carried out to achieve these goals are;
- Development and characterization of functional carbon nanomaterials from lignocellulosic wastes,
- Production and characterization of flexible and transparent OLED substrates from lignocellulosic materials
- Development and characterization of carbon dot-reinforced OLED devices
- Production and testing of the OLED panel prototype
Sustainable lignocellulosic biomass, lignocellulosic compounds and their functionalized derivatives, high-value-added carbon-based nanomaterials (carbon/graphene dots with high quantum efficiency that can emit light in different color emissions, carbon aerogel and boron-doped derivatives with non-flammable properties) and compounds produced from cheap, sustainable lignocellulosic resources and among the project objectives is the evaluation of the effectiveness of transparent and flexible OLED substrates from its derivatives and the effectiveness of the OLED prototype we ultimately obtained by our industrial stakeholder (VESTEL).
While the proposed project contributes to research and development activities to develop high value-added nanomaterials with unique material synthesis and processing approaches from sustainable cheap sources and to offer sustainable and cheap alternatives to diodes and glass substrates used in flexible OLED technology, the project outputs will be evaluated within the scope of industry/university cooperation for the benefit of the masses.
The research program of the sub-project "Production of advanced materials with increased efficiency by utilizing lignocellulosic raw materials and wastes", which will be carried out under the umbrella of the 'High Technology Platform' to be created, primarily covers the field of "Manufacture of electronic components and circuit boards" corresponding to 26.11 as NACE 2 code. The project also aims to contribute to the development of advanced materials from sustainable resources and the training of new researchers and graduate students in the field of electronic device applications.
